Interns are an integral part of our team and are therefore encouraged to actively engage with events, publications, and project management. Interns provide important research and administrative support to HCSS. This position will expose the candidate to the writing process for publications, logistical elements of event-planning, strategic communication, and creating initiatives within a think tank.
The intern will work closely with the Directors, Project Manager, and Analysts working on projects pertaining to cybersecurity and policy, and more specifically support the activities of the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace (GCSC). HCSS initiated the GCSC initiative and functions as its Secretariat together with the EastWest Institute.
About the HCSS Cyber Policy and Resilience Program and the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace:
HCSS’ portfolio is increasingly focusing on policies, international cooperation, competition, and conflict in cyberspace. This includes conceptual and data-driven research of the cyber threat landscape, as well as diplomatic, security, and legal implications of cyberspace in the context of international peace and security.
Our main area of emphasis is to bring together the new field of cybersecurity with traditional national security and international relations.
Through global engagement and thought leadership, the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace (GCSC) will develop proposals for norms and policies to enhance international security and stability and guide responsible state and non-state behavior in cyberspace. The GCSC will engage the full range of stakeholders to develop shared understandings, and its work will advance cyber stability by supporting information exchange and capacity building, basic research, and advocacy.
