What exactly will you do?

 

The Programme Director is the educational manager of the Law degree programme. The Programme Director makes it possible for lecturers to perform at their best and inspires, facilitates and enhances the personal leadership skills of all employees. Responsible for the quality of the education and ensuring the right curriculum. Well equipped to manage highly educated (potential) professionals. In terms of content, the Programme Director contributes from a strategic point of view on how to anticipate on new developments for the Law degree programme(s) of that faculty. Acting as a figurehead of the degree programme in the professional judicial field and towards other collaboration partners. Effectively organizing all education processes and operational management. The Programme Director is a member of the Management Team of the Faculty of Public Management, Law and Safety.

 

These results translate into the following responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the formulation of the strategy, starting points and frameworks for the faculty and development of the degree programme(s);
  • Responsibility for the quality of the degree programme, including student satisfaction, results and accreditation;
  • Managing team leaders and lecturers, assuming responsibility for team development and stimulating and facilitating learning and employee development;
  • Ensuring proper implementation of HRM policy (including R&O cycle);
  • Responsibility for functioning as a results-accountable unit;
  • Acting as a figurehead of the degree programme, initiating and maintaining relationships with the professional field, shaping collaborations with the external environment;
  • Cooperation with the 2 team leaders and lecturers for the degree programme(s);
  • Reporting to the Dean of faculty and holding regular meetings with fellow Departmental Managers about faculty policy.

Job requirements

The ideal candidate should offer the following:

  • University degree LL.M, J.D., preferably Ph.D;
  • Leadership aimed at shaping educational processes, with the skills to forge connections, implement changes and manage professionals;
  • A minimum of 10 years of management experience;
  • Educational or other experience in the professional judicial field/discipline;
  • Knowledge and insight into (higher) education;
  • Knowledge and skills with regard to the operational management of an organizational unit;
  • Excellent command of the English and Dutch language, in consideration of this English-language programme and international composition of student population and team of lecturers;
  • Knowledge of and insight into didactic alternatives for the degree programme and the points of departure of educational innovation;
  • Skills in developing and maintaining a network and acting as an intermediary;

What we offer

The Law programme has a young, vivid and ambitious team with 40 faculty members, 2 team leaders. It is currently led by an acting programme director. The team is built by very international and cross-cultural (16 different nationalities) highbrow law professionals who want to offer students an outstanding international law programme. The team welcomes an internationally orientated programme director who takes the lead in attaining the next best level of higher education and who contributes to an even better teamwork with our lecturers and colleagues of the Dutch Law programme (HBO-Rechten).

 

Apart from this, we offer the following

  • A salary up to € 5.750,90 gross per month (scale 13) for a full-time work week, excluding 8% holiday pay. (The employment conditions are in keeping with the Collective Labour Agreement for higher professional education.)
  • A full 13th month;
  • An appointment of 1 FTE, 40 hours in a temporary position for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension;

The International and European Law Bachelor Programme of The Hague University (THU) is a 4-year LL.B. programme, aimed at training students in the fields of International and European law, with a strong emphasis on practical legal skills. The Programme, which is licensed and accredited by the Dutch Government, is fast-growing with currently around 1000 students of diverse international backgrounds.
