About us

With 80.000 talents working in 68 countries, we are one of the biggest high-tech employers in the field of safety and security. In the Netherlands, where 2000 employees are based, we are located in four cities: Huizen, Delft, Eindhoven and Hengelo (HQ). Together with an extensive ecosystem of knowledge partners, customers and suppliers, we work on radars for naval vessels, cyber security solutions, transportation systems, communication equipment for land forces, cryogenic cooling solutions, research & development for radar tech (in collaboration with TU Delft).

The software department of the Application Engineering cluster is responsible for the software development in Combat Management and Radar- and Optical sensors for worldwide navies- and defense systems. The work is performed in multi-disciplinary agile teams with specialists in software/system/test engineering and functional design.

The Tactical Data Link (TDL) is one of the most important assets within navies. With a TDL a naval vessel can extend its radar coverage by many thousand of miles. This is reached by combining data of multiple radars / sensors in its NATO fleet and share tactical data with each other as depicted below.

About the assignment

Within our department we are responsible for the integration of these link systems within our Combat Management System (CMS). To improve our way of working we need a software simulator that can simulate the behavior of a NATO Link.

In this assignment you will Design and Develop a Software Simulator that simulates connecting to a NATO Link network and simulate the behavior of an Link Network Control Station.

This simulator will be built in java, you will have the challenge to make a simple and usable simulator for use within our development teams. You will be working in close contact with product development teams and people with operational knowledge!
