In fast changing markets, customers worldwide rely on Thales. Thales is a business where brilliant people from all over the world come together to share ideas and inspire each other. In aerospace, transportation, defence, security and space, our architects design innovative solutions that make our tomorrow's possible.

About us

With 80.000 talents working in 68 countries, we are one of the biggest high-tech employers in the field of safety and security. In the Netherlands, where 2000 employees are based, we are located in four cities: Huizen, Delft, Eindhoven and Hengelo (HQ). Together with an extensive ecosystem of knowledge partners, customers and suppliers, we work on radars for naval vessels, cyber security solutions, transportation systems, communication equipment for land forces, cryogenic cooling solutions and research & development for radar tech (in collaboration with TU Delft).

Within the Engineering cluster the Applications department is responsible for the development of combat and information management systems for navy ships, integration with sensor- and weapon systems as well as the development of sensor processing applications. These complex systems contain advanced solutions for information processing, information management and the user interaction with both sensor- and weapon systems. Our product offers essential support for missions varying from anti-piracy to ballistic missile defense.

For the applications engineering platform team Thales is looking for talented DevOps Engineers

About the job

As a DevOps engineer you will work in multidisciplinary Agile teams. These teams develop and test the infrastructure platform for the combat management systems, the radar systems and the optical sensor systems. The development teams are responsible for the entire development chain – requirements analysis, development, testing, validation and demonstrating the current status of the product. Thales highly values the application of modern technologies and methodologies.

About you

Do you have a passion for technology, do you enjoy constantly developing your skills and are you interested in working on Naval Command & Control systems? Then you are the person we are looking for.

You are a talented developer that enjoys specifying, developing and testing IT infrastructure components. The infrastructure is part of the sensor and information management systems aboard navy ships. Relevant technologies include Linux, Java, Python, XML and TCP/IP networking. Knowledge of the Linux operating system is required while knowledge of configuration management tooling (e.g. Ansible) IT architecture and (container) virtualization is preferred.

You hold a bachelor or master degree in computer science, IT service management or comparable. Your colleagues are recognized experts in the field and will help you get up to speed and Thales will gladly invest in your development.

An important requirement to fulfil this role is flexibility and the ability to communicate efficiently in English to all types (technical, management) of stakeholders.

Thales offers

  • An interesting job within a nice team in an international high-tech environment;
  • Room for and attention to personal development and personal initiative;
  • The opportunity to grow within the organization, for instance on a technical, managerial, commercial or international level;
  • An open and flexible work environment where a good work-life balance is considered important;
  • A pleasant workplace in "the best building in the Netherlands" (Public’s Choice Award, 2015) with our own Starbucks corner;
  • Excellent work conditions, with 40 holidays a year, among other benefits.
