The Industry Risk Officer (IRO) supports the development of new and existing customer relationships through: completing credit and annual reviews, working with commercial members and country risk leaders to meet customer needs across countries and/or adding new products, creating Risk Acceptance Criteria (RAC’s) as needed, conducting training as appropriate and through monitoring customer/ portfolio performance.  IRO’s are also responsible for, among other things, providing portfolio acquisition support and monitoring external market trends within the industry(s) they support.

 

This position will support our Technology Solutions Global Business Unit. You can be located in any DLL office globally.

 

Day to Day

 

    • Proactively provides his/her input regarding Global Business Unit (GBU) new business opportunities. Sets Risk Acceptance Criteria (“RAC”) and Risk Appetite as needed and appropriate.
    • Assumes responsibility for completing credit applications, being ultimately responsible for meeting quality standards.
    • Perform periodic monitoring and reporting of the GBU portfolio, signalling potential deviations and proposing necessary actions to remedy negative trends.
    • Provide market and industry expertise in the development of new customer relationships in line with risk policy.
    • Participates in business reviews as requested with the focus on portfolio performance, portfolio quality and ongoing risk strategy.
    • Develops, administers and monitors global loss pools / risk sharing mechanisms as well as vendor risk limit setting over the countries and closely interacts with regional risk officers on concerns.
    • Assumes responsibility for GBU risk matters from a global perspective.
    • Maintains close relationship with commercial leaders and Regional Risk Officers.
    • Participates in committees when requested, assuming the risk expert role. In case of potential acquisitions, the function is part of the due diligence team from the perspective of industry risk expertise.
    • Monitors the adherence to global risk policies.
    • Assures an in-control situation through the usage of a monitoring and reporting infrastructure for the GBU and monitors, reports and advises on portfolio development as well as external market developments, in order to provide management information, initiate corrective actions and maintain compliance at all times.

 

Essentials:

    • Minimum of a Bachelors level college degree, Masters degree preferred.
    • 10+ years of credit risk experience with levels approval authority reflecting experience/ appitude. Experience preferably in the equipment leasing market including large ticket underwriting experience.
    • Experience in one or more of DLL’s industry segments.
    • Strong personal skills:

        • Credit risk assessment

        • Negotiation skills

        • Communication (written and verbal) skills
    • Experience in managing complex transactions, projects or programs. 
    • Interaction with others demands influencing and persuasion in a tactful manner and with understanding of cultural and business differences as well as corporate political sensitive issues.
