Are you the energetic Business Control Officer with a focus on helping ING Wholesale Banking management to successfully manage their non-financial risk? Who has an innovative, strategic vision, who loves the unknown, with affection with Open Banking, API technology and a great deal of realisation power? Your role and work environment

You will work within the Wholesale Banking Centre of Excellence Business Control (CoE BC). The CoE BC is responsible for the definition, development and global implementation of the WB non-financial risk & control framework as well as continuously proving the effectiveness by means of testing and reporting.

In this role you will specifically focus on Transaction Services (TS) – Open Banking and the TS IT assets.

With Open Banking ING is investing in building one global platform serving all of its retail customers, and corporate and institutional clients, in all countries.  This enables ING to become a global platform bank, scalable, open and borderless, with one user experience, one API solution and one developer portal to efficiently and seamlessly connect and interact with customers and partners. Open banking will help ING to further stimulate innovation and cooperation with third parties, including FinTechs, and explore new business models. The Open Banking team works to provide the key capabilities that allow ING to open up by establishing secure, scalable, compliant and uniform connectivity with external parties via APIs. Open Banking is set-up centrally for the whole of ING and supports segments and products globally.

 

 

Role and responsibilities 

As Business Control Officer (BCO) you are instrumental in helping management to manage the non-financial risk within WB TS Open Banking. You challenge, advise, support and investigate on behalf of 1st line business management in the process of developing, designing and implementing non-financial risk management. You safeguard that the business acts in line with internal/external law and regulation. You stimulate and guide business management to integrate non-financial risk in their daily business.

Additionally, you’re familiar with the application environments within WB Tech globally. During the first year in this role, you will be responsible for the execution of complex key control testing for several global IT assets and the issuance of in control statements for the users of these applications. The knowledge and experience you gain in this activity you then use to migrate the testing to the IBSS and guide and train the IBSS staff to enable them to continue the execution of the testing.

 

Your main focus will be on:

  • Understanding the development, implementation and communication of INGs Open Banking Platform and portfolio strategy, governance and roadmap

  • Performing risk assessments at business, product and policy level to identify key areas of risk

  • Advising on and implementing controls based on ING policies, standards and frameworks

  • Where needed, advising on the design of new controls and supporting the implementation

  • Key control testing

  • Support with risk mitigation issues and issue tracking

  • Establish and coordinate the training program

  • Contribute to risk forums

  • Support business management during internal & external audits

  • Administrate, analyze and report on events leading to near or actual losses

 

How to succeed

You are an energetic and proactive professional with IT background, affinity for non-financial risk and a positive, “Do it-Try it-Fix it” mentality. You are able to think out of the box and challenge the status quo.

  • Master’s degree

  • 7-8 years relevant experience with solid IT knowledge

  • Experience in Non-Financial Risk, Wholesale Banking and Retail is advantageous

  • You are fluent in English (verbal and written).

  • You have a broad understanding of the technical environment, e.g. Open Banking and (API) platforms

  • You have the ability to understand the broader landscape of ING across segments (retail and wholesale), across countries and regions

  • You have the ability to quickly understand and take into account the underlying issues, opportunities and dynamics of an international organization. You can find your way quickly and create networks in a new organization

  • In this environment you are able to identify risks, quantify the impact and advice mitigation measures

  • You have strong realisation power, are confident, persistent and take initiative. Focus on delivery through collaboration, ability to bring people together to work towards the same purpose

  • Ability to display style flexibility and adapt plan, approach and behavior to the different needs, cultures and situations

  • Ability to structure data and information and make them easily accessible

  • Creativity to find communication and reporting means and messages that make impact
