Untested systems are unsecured systems. As a security tester, you’ll be testing and validating ENCS members’ critical infrastructures and components to ensure our energy grid security is up to scratch.

This role is for a lead security tester.

 

Responsibilities

As a lead security tester for ENCS, you’ll need to:

  • Independently perform/lead on-site penetration testing for our members and other power companies
  • Independently evaluate functional security of critical infrastructure components in the ENCS lab
  • Guiding other ENCS testers during onside and lab testing activities and mentoring testers in technical matters
  • Drive and implement the ENCS security test strategy by:
    • Developing tools and test cases for evaluating components against security requirements
    • Conducting training and teaching actvities 

Who we’re looking for:

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • A track record of penetration testing in complex systems
  • Strong technical skills built over a minimum of 5 years in security testing
    • Excellent knowledge of TLS and IPSec
    • Good understanding of cryptography
  • Good knowledge of embedded device security and industrial control systems
  • Excellent reporting skills and the ability to summarise and present test findings
  • Experience in the supervision & management of small, agile test teams
  • High motivation and the ability to think and work independently
  • Experience working with customers in a commercial setting
  • Fluency in English
  • A master’s degree or higher

Ideally, you’ll also have expertise in:

  • Power system automation protocols such as IEC 60870-5-101 and -104, Modbus, DNP 3 or ICCP
  • Smart metering protocols such as DLMS, M-Bus, ZigBee or IEC 2017
  • Power line communications protocols such as PRIME or G3
