Senior Investment Analyst – Cybersecurity

LOCATION

Hybrid or remote. Our offices are located in Amsterdam and The Hague (the Netherlands). However, we welcome applications from qualified candidates who live in other European countries and are willing to travel 4-6 times per year to our offices in the Netherlands.

TIN Capital was founded in 1998 and is one of the leading cybersecurity venture capital firms in Europe. In Q4 2023, TIN Capital launched its newest fund: European Cyber Tech Fund V. This €100 million fund will invest in 12 startups with the potential to become a leader in their segment. TIN Capital (co-)leads funding rounds in European startups and scale-ups in the fields of:

  • Cybersecurity;
  • Privacy Enhancing Technologies;
  • National & Economic Security Tech;
  • Cyber Liability Insurance Tech. 

The small and gender-diverse investment team has an entrepreneurial background. We actively support our portfolio companies to become European cybersecurity champions.

 

WHAT YOU WOULD DO

  • Provide the investment team with the intelligence it needs to make investment decisions that anticipate cybersecurity industry trends.
  • Carry out and document research in: (i) cybersecurity trends and market drivers, (ii) cybersecurity (sub)segments with commercial potential, (iii) existing competitive landscapes, (iv) vendor unique selling points (USPs), (v) differentiating go-to-market and pricing strategies, (vi) gaps in competitors' offerings through reference calls with Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and other buyers, (vii) identifying and ranking (European) startups challenging the status quo.
  • Interact with the cybersecurity ecosystem at industry events.
  • Contribute to thought leadership by writing articles and giving presentations.
  • Structuring and improving (internal) processes.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or related fields;
  • Demonstrable analytical skills and a research mindset;
  • Full proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Fluency in English at a professional level;
  • Min. 5 years’ experience in either: (i) a tech analyst role at a leading technology research firm or (ii) a hands-on cybersecurity role in which you worked with a wide range of tools and processes or (iii) a (C)ISO role for a medium or large organization where you have learned to balance business continuity and cybersecurity spending, i.e. which cybersecurity controls make sense from a business perspective?
  • Personality that is geared towards: (i) becoming a subject matter expert, so curiosity, patience and persistence, (ii) translating complex data and information into explainable insights and trends, so attention to detail and the ability to communicate your research findings;
  • Team player.
  • Based in the European Union with a work permit for the European Union.

Optional qualifications (‘Nice to have!’):

  • Fluency in other European languages (in addition to English);
  • Financial modeling and financial analysis skills;
  • Communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Creative and strategic thinker;
  • CISSP, CASP+ or other relevant certifications.
