The post of Senior Specialist – Research and Innovation Technological Project Coordination is located in the Innovation Lab (C3-12), Information Management Unit (C3-1) Capabilities Directorate.
The Innovation Lab fosters innovation by pioneering and piloting innovative tools, products and services and the exploitation of synergies in close collaboration with Operations Directorate and Member States (MS). It includes an observatory function to carry out technology scanning and foresight. It deals with the ethical use of new tools and the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and disruptive technologies on fundamental rights and privacy.
Purpose of the post:
The Senor Specialist will be the platform manager for the Europol Tool Repository (ETR) and technological coordinator for the software components developed by Europol or shared by MS or private parties to be hosted on the ETR. She/he will have responsibility for the ETR tools lifecycle, from coordinating development and evaluation of the tools to overseeing compliance, user training and maintenance. Responsibilities also include the expansion and promotion of the ETR platform and its tools and the coordination of the operational support provided by Europol when these tools are being used by MS.
The selected candidate is expected to provide state-of-the-art AI expertise, for example in relation to Large Language Models (LLMs), to drive the development and evaluation of cutting-edge ETR tools, with the goal of achieving breakthrough performance.

However, the salary package and allowances depend on the personal situation of each individual, so a more precise calculation is done when an offer of employment is made.
The basic monthly salary is 7.261.98 (step 1) or EUR 7,567.14 (step 2)
Indicative net salary sample calculation AD7/1:
a) Staff member (single) in receipt of expatriation allowance (16%): EUR 7,455.62
b) Staff member with two dependent children in their custody in receipt of expatriation allowance (16%): EUR 9,545.82
The initial contract will be concluded for a period of 4 years (full-time – 40 hours a week). The contract may be renewed, in principle, for a period of 2 years. Any further renewal shall be for an indefinite duration.
