On behalf of ESA, we are looking for a System and Software Engineer to work at ESA ESTEC’s premises in Noordwijk, Netherlands.

 

About the client and location

The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. As ESA’s largest test centre, it is responsible for the majority of space technology and spacecraft development through varying phases of production.

 

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Delivering systems engineering expertise and consultancy to ESA projects, programmes and studies throughout all the project phases.
  • Assisting in project reviews and the evaluation of technical proposals.
  • Contributing to design development, requirements management, technical budget analysis, verification processes, and interface management.
  • Coordinating various engineering domains to support overall systems engineering activities
  • Supporting CDF studies as System Engineer, as needed.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • University Degree or equivalent in Engineering or Physics, with at least 4 years of proven work experience in a relevant field.
  • Solid background in spacecraft systems and space mission architecture design.
  • Significant experience in systems engineering, mission analysis and design, design methodologies.
  • Strong experience with Space project life-cycle, including mission/system conceptual design and trade-offs, requirements management, reviews, verification engineering.
  • Knowledge of system behavior and functional models and simulators incl. mission, system and subsystem (AOCS) aspects.
  • Ability to work independently and to establish good working relations with ESA is essential.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Knowledge of System of Systems (Sos) architecting and related tools (Focal Point, System Architect) and frameworks is desirable.
  • Good understanding of application of ESA Standards and SW engineering.
