Description:

QuTech is the leading advanced research center for Quantum Computing and Quantum Internet. QuTech is a joint research center founded in 2014 by Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). Quantum technology is a key future emerging technology and QuTech is at the forefront of research and development in this field. QuTech addresses both scientific and engineering challenges in close collaboration with internationally leading industrial partners. Within QuTech researchers of TNO and the TU Delft faculties EWI (Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Sciences) and TNW (Applied Sciences) work closely together in an international, inspiring, and innovative working environment that allows plenty of space for ambition, entrepreneurship, and innovation. At this moment we have a team of 300 people working at QuTech and we are happy to welcome our new dedicated Electronics Instrumentation Engineer as soon as possible.

QuTech, founded by the Delft University of Technology and The Netherlands Organization for Applied Research (TNO), is a mission-driven research center for quantum computing and quantum internet that aims to develop scalable prototypes of a quantum computer and inherently safe quantum internet based on superposition and entanglement, by bringing world-class scientists, engineers, and indus¬try together in an inspiring environment. The QN department comprises an internationally oriented research environment aiming for the understanding of physical processes at the nanoscale and the development of novel quantum materials and devices. Both QN and QuTech are part of the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience at Delft. Considerable institutional resources are available at TU Delft to support interdisciplinary and collaborative research ventures.

TU Delft is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty. Female candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

Functie omschrijving

The Delft University of Technology invites applications for a faculty position at QuTech for experimental physics of quantum devices, embedded as an assistant professor in the Department of Quantum Nanoscience (QN) of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. Consideration of applications for a tenured associate or full professor level position may be given to exceptionally well-qualified individuals.

Functie eisen

We are looking for an excellent scientist with a research focus on quantum devices that have the potential to develop into robust quantum bits. Possible topics range from the fundamental physics of quantum hardware, topological superconductivity, hybrid architectures combining different qubit approaches such as circuit QED and semiconductors, nanodevices hosting non-Abelian anyons, to novel quantum bit architectures. The research direction should allow for synergy with the existing work on quantum bit development within QuTech. Candidates are expected to have a successful scientific track record and be able to formulate an independent research program, and are also expected to participate in teaching.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

A tenure-track position is offered for six years. In the fifth year, we’ll decide if you will be offered a permanent faculty position, based on performance indicators agreed upon at the start of the appointment. We expect that you have the potential to grow towards an Associate Professor and/or Full Professor role in the future. Inspiring, excellent education is our central aim. We expect you to obtain a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) within three years if you have less than five years of teaching experience. This is provided by the TU Delft UTQ program. TU Delft sets high standards for the English competency of the teaching staff. The TU Delft offers training to improve English competency. If you do not speak Dutch, we offer courses to learn the Dutch language within three years. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. The TU Delft offers a customizable compensation package, a discount on health insurance and sport memberships, and a monthly work cost contribution. Flexible work schedules can be arranged. For international applicants, we offer the Coming to Delft Service and Partner Career Advice to assist you with your relocation.
