Description:

Thales Nederland is active in the Defence and Security sectors and is, with more than 2000 employees, a top provider of high-tech jobs. Product innovation and swift anticipation of the newest technological possibilities are the mainsprings of our business. Examples are radar, communication and command & control systems for naval ships and communication, security and payment systems for trade and industry. Thales Nederland is part of the Thales Group, which has a workforce of 68.000 in more than 50 countries making it one of Europe’s largest electronics companies.

Within Thales Naval Nederland organization, the department of Product Portfolio Management (PPM) is responsible for development of product roadmaps for the main product: the Tacticos Command & Control System, and for management of knowledge on the product, including its architecture.
We are constantly looking at new software and hardware technologies which are being developed in the commercial (IT) market, and evaluate if they are applicable in the challenging environment of a maritime vessel. We do our best to create a welcoming and interesting environment for students and interns, to become “embedded” in a highly-innovative, agile product development at the cutting edge of software and hardware development.

Assignment

Ballistic Missile Defence demonstration environment

The SMART-L Extended Long Range sensor, which is integrated in the Tacticos combat management system, has unique Ballistic Missile Defense  capabilities. To demonstrate this capabilities using a mix of simulation tools (VT MAK VR-Forces) and real products should bring a convincingly story showing the role Thales Netherlands products can play in BMD domain.

The objective is to define and develop a realistic demonstration environment demonstrating the SMART-L ELR early warning capabilities and possible interception options by other assets. It includes investigation of the demonstration needs, development of a story line and the actual implementation using VT-MAK VR-Forces (C++ development).

Affinity

Software development, C++
