Description:

About this position

Are you interested in truly shaping the future of Europe’s data strategy? As a Developer (scientist innovator) working for Data Ecosystems within TNO you’ll be part of orchestrating complex, sustainable collaborations through secure and carefree data exchanges, leading to breakthroughs in various markets.

What will be your role?

The sectors we work in include logistics, (smart) industry, defense & security, health, and energy. Our vision is to innovate in and with these sectors to create trusted data sharing solutions for the future. We are a leading contributor to the EU strategy on open ecosystems for data sharing. The Data Ecosystems (DE) department has top experts and international leaders in areas such as Data Spaces and semantics.

Together with your tightly knit team you play a key role in the implementation of practices and reference architectures for data sharing. You translate the specific aspects needed for data sharing and the creation of data-based services into IT solutions. In doing so, you connect people and organizations.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for:

  • First time engineering to help adopt data spaces in the Netherlands and Europe. This mostly involves designing and developing proof of concepts based on common European standards;
  • Co-develop specifications and standards around Data Spaces with partners across Europe;
  • Design and develop solutions for the open source community around data sharing;
  • Assist SMEs in their technological ecosystem to participate in Data Spaces.

Our tech stack:

  • Backend: Typescript (Nest.js), Java, Kotlin;
  • Frontend: Typescript (Vue.js);
  • Kubernetes.

What we expect from you

  • A completed university degree, preferably in computer sciences or another, related field;
  • Demonstrable experience with software development;
  • A broad view on technology: you are eager to learn new software languages, get to know and use different tools. As we touch the whole stack (from frontend to backend to deployments), this will be handy in making sure we are able to choose fit for purpose at any stage of our projects;
  • Autonomy, proactivity and curiosity. You’ll gain energy from working with people on complex issues where national and international standards play a key role;
  • Professional level of English in writing and speaking, besides fluency in Dutch.

What you'll get in return

Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. We offer a gross monthly salary (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). In addition, you will be given every opportunity to develop yourself.

TNO offers optional employee benefits, enabling you to tailor your benefits package to match your personal situation. You may also expect:

  • An extremely professional, innovative working environment where colleagues are leading experts in their field.
  • The opportunity to attend courses, workshops and conferences, and to receive training and coaching based on your needs.
  • 33 days annual leave on a full-time basis.
  • An employer that values and encourages diverse talent, with initiatives like the Female Leadership Program, our Rainbow Community and round tables on inclusion topics.
  • We offer a comprehensive and flexible mobility plan that also includes full compensation for public transportation for commuting and business travel[OPTIONAL] or a leased car.
  • Great social events with your team and other TNO colleagues. That’s how you will get to know a lot of people really quickly.
  • Flexible working hours, the possibility to work parttime (32 of 36 hours) and the possibility of working from home.
  • Extensive relocation package for international candidates.
  • A good pension scheme.
