ING is looking for an IT Chapter Lead for the tribe Credit Risk who will build and improve our Credit Risk platforms. You will lead a chapter of engineers in the Netherlands and India.
With them you are responsible for finding ways to deliver software fast while continuously improving the way you and your engineers do their work. Working closely with architects ensuring a safe and compliant bank. Our IT Chapter Leads have a positive can-do mind-set and they live the Orange Code Behavior. Besides a passion for IT, Chapter Leads have strong people management skills.
What is the purpose of our area?
Tribe Credit Risk delivers the solutions that provide insight in ING’s financial (credit) risk data, to ensure ING provides the right credit risk products. To do so, we process the complete credit risk portfolio of ING, calculate financial figures and provide a credit risk data warehouse. On top of that, we provide solutions on global credit restructuring.
At the moment we are implementing a new way of managing the modeling lifecycle of Credit Risk models using state of the art technology solutions which requires a major update of our current business and IT architecture. We are migrating towards internal as well as public cloud solutions (Azure, Postgres).
You are an ideal candidate:
As an IT Chapter Lead you are a senior engineer and you are seen by colleagues as a go-to person. Along with the IT Area Lead and your fellow IT Chapter Leads you set the standards for software development in your area of expertise. You have not only a strong drive to constantly keep your own expertise up to speed, but also make an active contribution to the development and advancement of the people in your chapter and your field.
As an IT Chapter Lead, you are also a “doer”. Sixty percent of your time, you work as a senior engineer. You use your seniority to maximize team performance. You will be the differentiating factor to ensure continuity while moving Credit Risk to ING standards and push innovation and continuous improvement ensuring that the platform is built with the best and up to date technology.
You like to transfer your expertise to colleagues in the chapter and feel satisfaction from coaching (both professionally as personally) less senior chapter members. You work in an international environment with squads onshore as well as offshore. You are ambitious with what you and your Chapter want to achieve. You stimulate your Chapter members towards continuous improvement of their skills. You speak up and challenge the status quo.
You have:
Bachelor and Master degree diploma in Engineering or related fields
Clear understanding and experience on Java, Oracle, Linux, Front-end technologies
Experience and thorough understanding of continuous delivery, deployment tools and pipelines.
Solid experience on software architecture, especially on design of services and API’s, translating feature architecture to software architecture
Domain expertise on Financial Risk, especially Credit Risk and modeling is a big plus
Strong people management skills; You create opportunities for your employees to reach their full potential and encourages team development.

Strong interest and vision in recent trends in software development and technology in general. We see the IT Chapter Leads as senior engineers who carve the path of ING Bank’s digital transformation.
Great analytical skills and conceptual / architectural understanding, ability to learn new technical concepts fast.
Ability to constantly balance the pressure of (IT Risk) targets of the teams you oversee and the quality of software they deliver.
Experience in Agile / Scrum / DevOps methodologies
Hands-on experience on data warehouse concepts, data manipulation and transformation
Hands on experience with development and deployment to cloud platforms
Hands-on experience with containers, e.g. Docker
Last but not least, hard-working, down-to-earth mentality. When a feature is broken with customer impact, you and your team will fix it: here and now.
