Within the Solar Technology & Application (STA) department, we develop new generations of solar cells in the form of films that can be processed on any surface. This field of work extends from research on small solar cells in clean rooms to the development of upscaling processes on one of our three semi-industrial pilot lines. In addition, we have a wide range of measuring and analysis equipment for indoor and outdoor evaluation of solar cells. To keep these state-of-the-art facilities in optimal condition and to ensure a safe working environment, we are looking for a Laboratory Manager & Prevention Officer for the department.
What will be your role?
In your role within the STA-TNO team, you will be responsible for the management organisation of all the department's facilities and, as prevention officer, also for the SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) aspects thereof. You will be supported by various experts in the fields of laser safety, ionizing radiation (in connection with X-ray measuring equipment), and chemistry, among others, and a large number of facility managers. In doing so, you ensure the safe and optimal operation of the department's state-of-the-art technological heart that allows researchers to make a difference in the development of new generations of solar films.
Your daily activities are very diverse. They include coordination with relevant external stakeholders (such as equipment suppliers, external installation parties, safety and environmental regulators, and representatives of High Tech Campus Eindhoven), maintenance, and prevention. You will also be part of a diverse, international team with multidisciplinary knowledge and know-how from a wide range of backgrounds. Together, you will assess the risks in carrying out research and draw up the necessary measures. An internal training programme is available for the proper performance of the duties of prevention officer.
What we expect from you
In your role, you will deal with many internal and external stakeholders. Good communication skills and leadership qualities are, therefore, indispensable. In addition, you must be able to think critically and assess under pressure.
