Description:

Legal Counsel/Contract Manager - Hengelo

Location: Hengelo, Netherlands

Our Legal & Contracts team of Thales in the Netherlands consists of about 20 people, based in both Hengelo and Huizen. These are legal counsel, contract managers and trade compliance professionals dedicated to their jobs and the organisation. Your future Legal & Contracts coworkers deal with complex legal issues. The main part of their activities exists of assisting the capture team with the drafting, negotiation and closure of (international) contracts and the subsequent execution of those contracts in the project team. These are contracts in an often culturally and politically challenging environment – no two days are the same. And we're looking for you!

About your future job
We established ‘self-organising’ teams to facilitate continuous learning and improvement, and give a lot of responsibility to each individual in the team. You are given a lot of flexibility in planning your workweek: we strive to work about three days a week in the office, and two days remote. As our counterparts and partners are all over the world, traveling will be part of the job.

Your activities will focus on the capturing and the subsequent execution of sales contracts. This means that you’re involved from drafting and negotiation up to the closing of a contract when all obligations from Thales’ and the customer's side have been fulfilled.

Above all, you will be a specialist within the team on certain legal topics, such as for example intellectual property, GDPR, purchasing, compliance or environmental regulations. You’ll plan and organize your tasks and projects yourself. These are often driven by the customer’s time schedule, which may change on a daily basis. This means that being flexible and able to continuously monitor and adapt your priorities is of the utmost importance. Within the Thales organisation, our colleagues in the sales and projects departments will be the ones you'll most often work with.

Why you'd be a good match
You have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in law and are looking for the second or third serious step in your career. You have solid experience at a law firm or as legal counsel or contracting specialist in a multinational company. Your legal knowledge is of course up to date. Working in an international and challenging environment piques your interest, just as understanding the technical, financial and commercial aspects of a contract.

Your strong and independent personality are valuable in any team, and you are solution-focused, a true team player and able to manage different stakeholders and setting priorities. You are client-focused, have outstanding negotiating skills and good command of both oral and written Dutch and English. A Dutch passport is a prerequisite due to contracts with the Dutch Government that are ‘Dutch eyes only’.

What's in it for you

  • A challenging job in a great team within our high-tech, innovative work environment. Includes the freedom for initiative and good ideas.

  • Room for personal and professional growth within our organisation, for example in regards to technical, commercial or international skills.

  • Valuable international collaboration with coworkers from 68 different countries around the globe.

  • A comfortable work space in a modern environment, with a focus on flexibility and the right work life balance.

  • You can usually work where and whenever you want. Within Thales, we aim for a 60/40 balance, where you work from home at least two days a week, when your role allows this.

  • A good salary, fitting travel allowance, and the ability to personalise your employment conditions: for instance, you can trade PTO for internet costs, our bicycle plan, company fitness and relocation costs.

  • 40 days off per year (PTO). Yes, really.

Diversity Statement
We actively support a working pattern that suits your lifestyle and helps you reach your ambitions. That means that equal opportunities, inclusion and an informal culture are integral to our success. It also means that your well-being and happiness matter to us! That’s why we offer you the flexibility to do what’s important to you; whether that’s part time hours, job sharing, remote working, or the ability to flex your start and finish times.
