Contributing to tomorrow’s world. Envision it. Become a safety expert at TNO in Petten.
What will be your role?
Do you enjoy advising and assisting researchers on how to carry out their work safely? Do you like working in state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind research facilities? Does being involved in the implementation of quality policy interest you? Are you able to pragmatically deal with both policy and practice? Do you have a keen eye for potential improvements? Then this is the job for you.
Together with the Quality, Safety, Health & Environment (QSHE) coordinator, you are responsible for QSHE within the Energy Transition (ET) unit. The emphasis herein is on your role as a safety expert, but you’re able to help across the full spectrum of the QSHE policy. The ET unit consists of 12 research groups working on a broad range of research topics. In your role as safety expert, you implement and monitor our unit's QSHE policy. Together with the QSHE coordinator and other colleagues in the unit, you make sure that work is done safely and is of the highest quality.
Your work is varied. Supported by your expertise and drive, you’re able to raise the safety level of our research processes. Of course, you’ll be working together with experts in the research groups for this. You’re involved in carrying out audits and inspections, mapping out risks (RI&E), initiating appropriate measures, and assisting in their implementation. You help to monitor the appropriate QSHE training in the unit and are responsible for monitoring the implementation of the QSHE annual plan.
You offer advice regarding quality and safety; are in contact with relevant installation managers, researchers, room managers, and project leaders to get things done; and participate in QSHE improvement projects, while always remaining focused on achieving the goals of compliance, quality improvement, and risk reduction.
By monitoring and conducting reviews, you support management in improving performance related to quality and safety. Together with the QSHE coordinator, you’re the most important link in the chain regarding the roll-out and securing of the unit’s central QSHE policy.
The Energy Transition unit is large, with 12 departments at locations in Amsterdam, Delft, Rijswijk, Eindhoven, Utrecht, and Petten. Some 700 researchers, project leaders, and consultants work together in these departments on applicable innovations in the energy transition field. Our researchers are among the absolute world leaders in their fields. Experimental research takes place in many of our departments, for which we have unique research facilities at our disposal. In your job as safety expert, you’ll come into contact with many of the people and labs. There is an informal working atmosphere.
