Description:

Internship | Deep learning & computer vision: Head mounted display removal for VR using deep learning

What will be your role?

Within Intelligent Imaging we have several projects working on virtual reality (VR). Most of these projects use head mounted displays to experience the 3D environment. When the current environment is filmed and displayed in the virtual reality world, we want it to be as realistic as possible. Therefore we want to reconstruct the human’s face in the place of the head mounted display, also displaying the human’s emotions or facial expressions.

The dissertation will be part of our project on teleconferences with VR. In this teleconference, we want to have the conference table and all participants of the meeting in VR, while the participants are actually joining via their laptop. To get a realistic conference experience, the human face should be reconstructed on the head mounted display and animated with a variety of possible facial expressions, even when it is moving or deforming. That is your challenge!

We expect that Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) would be useful for this problem and want you to investigate its potential. You will be working as part of the virtual reality project team. Besides, you will be incorporated within the deep learning team to enhance each other’s knowledge.

Interested in combining VR with deep learning and investigating the potential of GANs? Join our team!

You can start your internship at any moment from October 2021 onwards, for a period of at least 6 months.

What we expect from you
