Description:

What will be your role?

During this internship, you will be working with experts in cryptography and data science to enhance explainable artificial intelligence techniques with privacy-enhancing technologies. This will enable applications that were not possible before, such as privacy-preserving explainable decision support for health care. Such solutions allow health care professionals to advise patients using cutting-edge ai techniques that preserve the privacy of the data subjects and the patients and provide intuitive explanations of their output.

This internship is part of the fate project, which focuses on integrating state-of-the-art developments in the areas of co-learning, fair ai, explainable ai and privacy-preserving ai in order to bring responsible decision support systems to the dutch society. Specifically, you will study techniques that help interpret the results and reasoning of complex ai models while ensuring that the sensitive training data, which is often distributed, remains private at all times. Key enablers to achieve this are recent advances in cryptography that allow privacy-preserving computations on distributed data.

You will work with experts from two departments: cyber security & robustness and data science, who contribute to a vast range of cutting-edge developments within cryptography and artificial intelligence and are experienced in applying this knowledge to deliver solutions that create an impact on society.
