R&D Product Engineer

Nuctech Netherlands B.V. is a subsidiary of Nuctech Company Limited. For our starting office in the city center of Rotterdam, we are looking for an R&D Product Engineer.

Job description

As R&D Product Engineer you design and/or develop new x-ray products. Our scanning and detection product range includes highly innovative components and our products are constantly renewed to ensure a safer world. In this position, you will support and be part of our R&D team.

What are you going to do?

In close cooperation with our industrial designers, you are responsible for developing concepts for new products and systems. You make a consideration between different concepts and evaluate their feasibility while taking the defined product specifications & requirements into account. When you have supported your ideas technically to your team and the R&D Manager, you decide to go for the chosen concept and develop it with detailed drawings, perform calculations and simulations. And of course, if needed, you will investigate the applicability of new materials and manufacturing processes to build and test prototypes, in order to work towards a feasible end product.

You are going to work in a brand new team and can make a huge difference with your contribution and knowledge.

Your responsibilities:

• Translate design concepts into engineered products using 3D-CAD modeling software
• Plan, conceptualize and create mechanical designs for new products
• Develop testing processes, perform tests and validation of new designs
• Generate working prototypes for testing and customer demonstration
• Perform engineering calculations to support design work
• Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams
• Deliver detailed documentation to track project development and design process
• Ensure the project timeline is met and the project stays within budget

Job requirements

• Bachelor's degree in industrial product design engineering or a related field
• 3-6 years of experience working in product engineering
• Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products
• Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems
• Experience using 3D-CAD software such as SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, CREO, or similar
• Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
• Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in English and preferably Dutch
• Must be self-motivated and a great team worker
