Senior Backend Engineer

Our platform backend is built in Python, with service dependencies such as PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis, along with libraries such as Flask, SQL Alchemy, and Celery. We are a team of experienced and motivated software engineers, passionate about working in a multicultural start-up environment, with proven expertise in building scalable and robust cloud-agnostic software, that can be either hosted for our customers (SaaS), or packaged and deployed on-premises (VMs, k8s). We follow industry standards like STIX and TAXII, and we contribute to open-source projects that maintain and advance these standards.

You will be contributing to the development of the platform and will be expected to have high quality skills in Python, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch. You should have hands-on experience with building a microservices-based architecture, and be comfortable working directly with Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Gitlab, and GitHub Actions. You will work closely with the development and architecture team and teams spread across functions like UI, QA and Customer Support. Having cybersecurity domain knowledge is a bonus.

What does it take?

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

• Knowledge of Python (including ecosystem)

• Ability to write clean, readable code together with unit and integration tests

• Expertise in building server-side applications

• Knowledge of best practices on building APIs

• Experience with storing and processing substantial amounts of data

• Hands-on experience with SQL, Git, and Docker

• Systematic problem-solving approach

• Ability to drive things to closure with minimal supervision

• Excellent written and spoken English skills

• Effective communication skills and ability to productively collaborate within and outside of the Engineering team

Nice to have:

• Experience with complex data structures and application profiling

• Experience with implementing data exchange protocols

• Cybersecurity domain knowledge

• Experience with Flask, SQL Alchemy, Celery, and Kubernetes

This role is based in The Netherlands, however we will consider candidates currently living in the UK or in a EU country. We will not provide any relocation and/or work permit assistance.
