Functiebeschrijving

The CYBECO project (Supporting Cyberinsurance from a Behavioural Choice Perspective) is a cooperation of 7 European research institutes and companies. The project will research, develop, demonstrate, evaluate, and exploit a new framework for managing cybersecurity risks, one that focuses on cyberinsurance as key risk management treatment. CYBECO integrates multidisciplinary research methods from behavioural economics, statistics, game and decision theory, security engineering, and behavioural psychology in order to develop new concepts and models that are combined within a prototype software architecture. To this end, the project will also perform behavioural experiments and provide policy insights. Within the project, the TU Delft is involved in all the work packages and leads the work package on policy recommendations.
You will conduct interdisciplinary research contributing to the CYBECO project and assist in the management of the project as well as the coordination of the work package on policy recommendations. You will work on the project independently but in cooperation with at least two others. You are expected to seek connections with other sections/departments when relevant for the project.
Your tasks:
• Conduct research and publish scientific papers relevant to the project
• Contribute to work packages and associated project deliverables on behavioural modelling of cybersecurity risk and cyberinsurance, as well as limited contributions to other work packages
• Lead the work package on policy recommendations (in relation with directives, standards and cyberinsurance services) and the associated project deliverable (2nd year)
• Contribute to dissemination and exploitation of the project results, e.g. by acquisition of follow-up funding
• Contribute to the supervision of master students graduating within the project
• Maintain a network with other researchers and developers, within the project as well as in the broader community

Afdeling

Technology, Policy & Management.

The Department of Values, Technology and Innovation (VTI) focuses on the value dimension of comprehensive engineering, the overarching research theme of the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management (TPM).

The research group on safety and security science aims at developing evidence-based theories and innovative practices, in order to model, predict, visualise, and optimise safety, security, and risk levels. It does so by concentrating on the decision-making processes on technical, human, and organisational issues. This should result in proactive and reactive measures to improve safety and security levels while respecting other conflicting values and uncertainties. The methodologies are applied to a wide variety of domains. Within the faculty, cybersecurity is a focus area across the different departments, with at least 20 researchers. This initiative is part of the university-wide cybersecurity theme under the Delft Safety and Security Institute (DSyS).
