Beschrijving:

The project officer will be part of the Projects Office Team that manages and supports (commissioned) research and capacity-building projects. The project officer will work under the supervision of the managing director.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage one or more externally funded projects (some related to international law and Ukraine) ensuring that core grant milestones are reached within budget;
  • Draft interim and progress reports in accordance with institutional procedures and the funding agencies’ requirements;
  • Assess and manage budgets;
  • Monitor and identify funding opportunities relevant for researchers at the Institute, and actively match researchers to calls;
  • Steering the process of grant applications, in close collaboration with colleagues (researchers and finance department) and external organisations;
  • Contribute to the substantive sections of funding proposals;
  • Actively establish new relationships with potential donors and partner organisations;
  • Perform other administrative tasks to support the mission of the institute.

The successful candidate is expected to have the following profile:

  • A completed Masters’ degree;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing externally funded projects;
  • Ability to take initiative and to work independently, hands-on and result-oriented professional;
  • Strong writing skills in both Dutch and English; 
  • Confidence to represent the institute with clients, project partners and senior experts;
  • Good team player, self-supportive, hands-on, proactive, and comfortable in multi-cultural and academic settings;
  • A strong interest in and understanding of Ukraine is an advantage.

Conditions

You will be appointed at the University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam Law School, and seconded to The T.M.C. Asser Instituut in The Hague.

Remuneration depends on the actual level of education, experience and knowledge, with a maximum of €5929 gross per month, based on a full time equivalent (38 hours), according to the collective labour agreement of the Dutch Universities (VSNU). Secondary benefits at Dutch universities are attractive and include 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.

 

This appointment will be for a period of one year. Extension of the appointment is subject to the availability of project funding and satisfactory performance during this period.
