Project Manager Cyber Security | The Hague

Would you like to lead projects that develop technology for the detection of advanced cyber attacks? Would you like to lead research in the field of cryptographic developments? Then join us!

 

What will you be doing?

The Cyber Security and Robustness (CSR) department comprises approximately 50 enthusiastic professionals who are very knowledgeable about (technical) cyber security, and quantitative models and algorithms, and very experienced in developing and applying innovative technology and methods. With this knowledge and experience, we ensure that organisations can depend on secure and robust ICT networks and services, both now and in the future. To do this, we work closely with partners such as universities, other knowledge institutes, service providers and product suppliers, in the Netherlands and abroad. Our contribution ranges from providing independent advice to conducting exploratory research into promising technology We also make technology usable for a specific client or context, e.g. by developing proof-of-concepts. Clients for our research include the defence sector, financial institutes, telecom service providers and parties operating in the mobility and logistics sector. For many of our clients, a secure and robust ICT system is crucial to their business’ success.

  • A few examples of the role played by and the involvement of the CSR department and TNO are:
  • The development of technology for the detection or advanced cyber attacks in collaboration with national and international partners;
  • Research into the security of new and existing systems for bank transactions;
  • Research into the usability of advanced cryptographic technology in the medical sector with university and industry partners;
  • Research programmes for the defence sector focused on expanding its cyber security capabilities.

What do we require of you?

Your primary responsibility as a project leader is to achieve project results on time and on budget, for several projects at the same time. You develop a clear picture of the needs underlying customer questions, and of the frameworks and interests of other stakeholders around a project. You plan and organise research activities, and you are interested in the capacities and work of researchers. You pool those qualities in such a way that new opportunities arise from your project, both for the development of your team members and for new projects.
You take on both large and small projects within the cyber security domain in a flexible manner, looking for new ways to find connections in the areas of cyber security, cryptography, robustness & reliability, for example through partnerships. You do this from your own drive and vision, in line with the departmental strategy, and in collaboration with both Business Developers and experts in the field.
You have completed a technical education, preferably Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics. Subjects such as cyber security, cryptography, anomaly detection and/or blockchain are important elements in this job and we would like to see them reflected in your interests. You are pragmatic and keen to make things work. You have a demonstrable affinity with ICT. You are flexible, connecting, results-oriented and organisation-sensitive. You have demonstrably solved complex project challenges by yourself.
You are demonstrably customer-oriented You have experience as a project leader in complex, dynamic projects. (3 to 5 years' experience) You work towards a final result that the customer can use and apply to their satisfaction. You have excellent advisory and communication skills for conveying results. You can write clear and lucid reports in a short time and feel comfortable giving presentations.
