This is your time to make a mark on research into dynamic and/or failure behaviour of structures. Become Scientist Innovator Naval and Offshore Structures at TNO in Delft.
About this position
The Naval and Offshore Structures department stems from the Structural Dynamics department. We focus on the design, analysis and testing of a wide variety of mechanical structures. This mainly concerns (naval) ships and offshore structures. We focus on their dynamic behaviour, often under extreme conditions. Because we have a well-equipped lab, practical and theoretical knowledge go hand in hand and we are able to solve the most complex problems. Examples of our research range from shock-resistant ship structures to the structural safety of offshore structures for renewable energy, such as offshore wind turbines or floating solar parks.
What will be your role?
As an innovator in the Naval and Offshore Structures research group, it will be your job to predict and assess the dynamic behaviour and/or the failure behaviour of various structures caused by dynamic loads. You will do this on the basis of calculations, experiments or a combination of the two, carried out by you and the team.
What we expect from you
You have a university degree in marine engineering, civil engineering, or mechanical engineering, with a specialisation in the field of mechanics and/or structural dynamics. You have a solid theoretical foundation, have mastered numerical techniques, and also have a practical understanding of the behaviour of structures.
In addition to substantive expertise, we attach great importance to communication skills and a focus on clients and results in order to work as a team towards an end result that is useful and applicable for our clients. You have a good command of spoken and written Dutch and English (at least level B1).
