Every year Leiden University trains around 26,000 students from almost 100 different countries. The University is committed to ensuring that all its teaching meets the highest quality standards.
We have introduced the Leiden Study System and the Binding Study Advice as means of supporting our bachelor’s and master’s students in achieving their full potential. Our teaching in an increasingly international environment is inspired and fed by scientific research, and our students are challenged to play an active role in research projects. We are proud to be able to present as many as 7,000 students with their degree certificate every year.
The University does its utmost to offer its students and staff a stimulating academic work and learning environment. Leiden is an open community where everyone who wants to get the best out of themselves is welcome. Highly talented and motivated students have additional opportunities to add depth or breadth to their programme in our excellence track, the Honours Academy.
Everyone is welcome to study at Leiden University, at all stages of life: as a bachelor’s or master’s student in Leiden or The Hague, or sitting at their computer at home following free online programmes such as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Part-time study options are also available, as a participant in non-curricular courses including Education for the Third Age and the Studium Generale (General Studies) lecture series, or special courses for professional in-career training.
